Revuew:

The new casting of the evening was the appearance of the young American soprano Eleanor Steber as the Countess for the first time. Miss Steber made a handsome Countess as far as sheer looks and carriage went. She also sang the part with credit. Since she begins with a searching air, "Porgi amor", her start was shaky. But she improved as the evening went along, and her handling of "Dove sono" was the work of a young artist who is distinctly up to an exacting part.
